How a search is executed
The site provides you with a list of options for several different parameters. The way the search works is it will OR all the options checked for each parameter, and AND each parameter set together. Lets say you are looking for an IWB or OWB leather holster. You check "Holster" under the Type heading, you check "IWB" and "OWB" under the Mount heading, and you check "Leather" under the Material heading. The site takes this data and generates a query. In this case it will ask the database :
Return all products where:
Type = Holster
AND
(Mount = OWB OR Mount = IWB)
AND
Material = Leather
Tips
- If you get few or no results, broaden your search by either selecting more options under each parameter or selecting no options for certain parameters.
- Not selecting any options for a particular parameter is just like selecting all of them. The reason being that every product in the database falls under at least one option for each parameter. If you select all of the options for a parameter, it will not eliminate any products. If you leave them all blank, it's just like saying "don't care" and the query will not use that parameter to limit the results.
- Some guns, such as S&W revolvers, may be listed individually as well as in groups (i.e. "S&W J-Frame") or may be interchangeable between other brand guns (i.e. 1911's). Different manufactures may list individual guns or gun groups as being compatible with a holster. We entered the data into RigRate just as the manufacturer states it. For this reason, you may need to select both, the individual gun and the gun group or other brands that match your gun style in order to retrieve all compatible products.
